...the
McCain vs. some Bush clone vote just got harder...
I ignore the Sheehan thing (Bush had every right to ignore her and its not like she'd say anything that nobody else has said yet).
But McCain plugging ID (or even "all points of view" which would take a 2 year intensive study 'cause not even the best comparative religion classes really cover all that, and NOBODY takes comparative religion in high school) means something is SERIOUSLY wrong in the Republican party. period.
Religious tolerance (a noble cause) does NOT mean embracing (or even introducing) every religious p.o.v. to everybody. We don't have time for that, and if not done in a way that a particular religion would approve (and doing it their way would be proselytizing for the one and/or blaspheming to another religion) would lead to nothing but condemnation and trouble on far to many sides.
Better to just leave religion (AND religious interpretations of nature, including Intelligent Design) out of the K-12 schools entirely.
period.
McCain, I actually might have voted for you in 2000 and 2004.
But not in 2008.
Until they get their collective lips away from the religious right's asses, I'm done with even thinking that party has any interest in this country's future.
