But look at the alternative...
Jan. 30th, 2004 04:40 pmHoward Dean said Friday that Kerry hasn't accomplished much during his 20-year Senate career and that he should be "a doer, not a talker." -- caption on a Kerry photo at wtopnews.com.
But consider the alternatives: on one side is someone who hasn't done much in 20 years; on the other is one who has repeatedly and consistently done the wrong things for 20 years, financially bankrupting almost everything he's ever been responsible for, up to and including this country. Somebody with the personal discretion to stay out of things rather than ruin them deserves at least SOME respect.
As for Kerry v. Dean on that issue, a Senator has far less influence over a state's constituancy than a Governor does, particularly when that Senator has been on the minority party for the last few years, and particularly when the state mentioned (South Carolina, where the primary is next and the speech took place in) isn't even the Kerry's state of service.
Yeah, Kerry may not have done wonders for S.C., but has Dean done wonders for S.C. while being a Governor of Vermont? I don't think so. Besides, Kerry is on the committee for Small Businesses, which does have a major influence on the growth of towns like Charleston and Columbia and the overall survival of an agriculture state as the megafarms eliminated the need for farm workers and ISO9000 eliminates factories.
