uh, oops...

No power (i'm using the laptop here). Aggrivatingly, we're the last house on the block without, as the next house over has power, as does the ex-Yahoo market.

No window. One of the 4 large (2 foot by 5 foot) windows in the living room blew off into the house. the tape held most of it together so it didn't shatter, but the noise woke us up at 4am, and we had plastic & duck tape over it by 5am. Neither cat escaped...I think they were too scared by it. Fortunately, the rain had pretty much stopped, so we didn't get soaked by it. But damn was it still windy around here.

bleh.

I still have an interview today in Rosslyn as far as I know. They haven't told me otherwise yet...so now I'm off to use the last of the hot water.

We're Back!!!

Our power just came on about 10 minutes ago. I'd like to think that's my doing, as upon coming back from the canceled interview, I drove around Church St. following the power lines and found the tree that fell on the wires. I sat on hold for about 5 minutes to call it in, then took pictures (will post later), and as I was leaving a cop drove by, so i flagged him down. He sat waiting at the spot, so they probably bumped the line up in priority, as it was a line that controlled the stoplights all down Cascade Parkway.

I did my good deed for today (tm)! :)

Loudoun County Sanitation is putting most of the county on a "boil first" order, as the power's still down at the plant. ( more details... )
