I have never understood how the cleaning ladies in every office building I work in can have no clue whatsoever about the placement of a trash can, and that if you place it on the far side of the desk around the corner, it is utterly impossible to see it, much less use it to actually place trash in. I put it on the near corner every morning, having moved it from the out-of-site far corner, every damn morning.

*sigh*

This is the third office building I've been in, all with exactly the same damn thing happening every time.

I tire of this. Haven't we had some 100+ years of research into workplace efficiency?

Ok, so 9/11 happens and security has to tighten up and all that. Fine. But what are the DoD and CIA doing getting involved in monitoring transactions and behavior of American citizens on American soil when 1) their jurisdiction of responsibility is foreign countries, and 2) not a single mass-killing terrorist act aside from Oklahoma City was conducted by an American citizen?

In the 60's, NASA realized that astronauts were going to be taking notes in space. Of course, pens at the time were fed by gravity. So they spent all this money developing a pen that could write in zero-g. (Pressurized ink and all that. I think thats how the paper-mate was invented.)

Anyway, the russians just use pencils.
