he ain't got nothin'.  just give me one self-centered slowpoke in a mercedes yappin' on a cell phone causing me to get caught by a red light (that he still clears by running it red) and i can go from zero to cranky in 2.6 seconds.

sheesh...amatures.

BWAAAHAHAHAHAAA! *snort*

I will stand witness to this phenomenon... Hell, 2.6 is you on a slow day... ;)

An important question....

Is the self-centered slow poke doing the LEGAL speed limit in these scenarios!!!????

If/When that sort of thing happens to me, i prefer to think to myself, "I wonder if i would have been killed if i'd made that light... " and let it go at that.

I always believed that the best path is not necessarily the one i planned or intended, and in my wee mind, that has to go for "annoying obstacles and delays", as well.

more importantly, were they keeping up with the flow of traffic around them, to which it is invariably a "no".

i'm with the British -- i'd rather see slowpokes (even if going just under the speed limit) ticketed for interfering with the flow of traffic.

not that i want traffic on a 55mph road to be doing 80 -- but someone doing 50 in the *center* lane (of 3) when the flow is doing 65 is AN OBSTICLE and is actually creating far more of a risk than the "speeders".

THAT's a situation that usually brings out the rapid no-warning lane-changers who don't signal and thus lead to your particular traffic peeve i've seen many a (tragically necessary) rant on.

oh, i do mind the lesson learned from Back to the Future III very well and I WILL stop before running pure red. now, i've run plenty of extremely *orange" lights, but more often those are because i know the momentum and weight of my car and the power of my breaks over 5 years and i know when i will and won't be able to actually stop remotely behind the white line.

some days its "he chose wisely", some days its "he chose poorly". often a 50-50 crap shoot. go fig.

i do have those days where the obsticles feel like murphy gone mad.

but there have been those moments where the urge comes in that its "telling me something" and i need to go a different route. and more often than not, that's led me to something i really need to be at. when that happens, though it could just be my subconscious talking, i prefer to credit to God telling me something -- those are some of the moments of miracles in my life.

utterly unscientific of course, but I never said God was science. only that I believe. :)

by "wisely/poorly" i didn't mean to imply running red (or "orange") lights.

i meant to add a sentence about getting out of the slowpoke lane that sometimes just pins me off and makes me even further behind the slowpoke.

usually the phrase that comes out of my mouth is "what a senseless waste of a mercedes".
