and my final post on the subject, for at least a few months...or days...or minutes (i can't shut up as most people know)

There exist good Republicans. Honest, honourable, smart. But I do not trust the Republican Party. That I and others may have failed to convince enough people not to vote for Bush is an immediate -- well, past, really -- issue.

[...]

In the meantime there are: wondering how to have a voice, limit the damage done in the next four years, and -- since the country is still split nearly 50/50 in so many ways -- make the disagreements and division less poisonous.

When a couple of students were ranting and raving today, I commented that what's done is done. If you support Bush, then you're happy, if you suported someone else, you're probably not happy. Fine.

However... Now that it's over, people need to figure out how to support whatever bits (many or few) they *like* about the administration we've received, from local to federal... and what, if anything can be done to mitigate whatever damage they think may be coming or possible they should figure out and do.

(Hmm... now that I think about it, I'm betting at least a *few* of the 8th graders will be old enough to vote next time around... so they'd best start taking note now of just how much difference a few votes can make...)
