Put simply, don't EVER do this. Any time there is information being gathered about you or your habits that you don't control, it WILL be used to control you.

Better that information simply not exist at all.

because like with the grocery store cards, that information that they get (in this case, insurance companies like Progressive who are already doing it) could lead to a discount on your rates.

truth is, it wouldn't be enough, over the course of your rates per year, to be worth it. but like the word "tax cuts" that creates an instant vibe, insurance companies make more sales by saying "you could save", even when the savings aren't worth the hassle of transfer or the change in service quality.

but "save money now" sometimes grabs people who simply don't pay attention to the consequences of their decisions.
