There are two things I can see from

1) he knows what he's going to say is mostly fluff, won't hold true at all, and sets an agenda he would need to accomplish (or at least be in the direction of accomplishing) before november, which is likely impossible.

2) he knows that as a supporter of big business and media conglomerates, the last thing he wants to do is offend them by having them lose their may sweeps advertising dollars...

either way, its stupid.

or it could be the networks *protecting* him -- if he looks bad on camera 'cause of what he says here (or what's asked of him by the press afterwords), EVERYBODY notices.

the less he's in front of the camera in ways that can't be avoided, the better...
