Is ANYTHING on the Web worth $50?
Jan. 6th, 2003 02:53 pmJavaWorld.com has decided to add a subscription fee to viewing their archives which go back to 1996 or so...the trouble is the price tag: $49.99. Now given that much of that info is out of date as things changed from java 1.0 to 1.3 and 1.4 (and other libraries are out of date too like JGL and JavaMail and much of J2EE), is what's left really worth $50? Standard micro-econ will tell you the lower you can make it, the more subscribers you get (minus the 50% of the 'net that says everything should always be free), and there's got to be a decent graph one can come up with that will tell you that you won't get anybody to go at that high a rate...
sheesh...
