I kinda just sorta "knew", probably about 2 months ago or so, that Trudeau was going to do something like this. Given that he's shown us the reality of death in other circles (Aids, heart attacks, alzheimers), its really no surprise to me that he'd introduct the potential for more...

...of course, BD could turn out to be ok after all in the end...but we'll just have to wait and see, like they will.

BD is named for Brian Dowling, quarterback from Yale while Doonesbury creator Trudeau attended. So yes, its probably complete coincidence, outside of the general feeling from both cartoonists that the impersonnel attitude and lack of responsibility-taking of the current administration simply has to stop. one way or another.
