Feds: No charges in Philadelphia school laptop-spying case - USATODAY.com:
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Federal prosecutors will not file charges against a school district or its employees over the use of software to remotely monitor students.

U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger says investigators have found no evidence of criminal intent by Lower Merion School District employees who activated tracking software that took thousands of webcam and screenshot images on school-provided laptops.
The original civil case does continue.

No evidence of intent? Thus another nail in the coffin of privacy.

"Gee officer, I just happen to hang out near the dressing rooms, and peek over the walls to see what's going on. But I never intended any harm. " yeah, right. Those guys were spying on students, without telling them they were doing so, in hopes of finding some illegal or unpermitted activity. Oh wait, some police departments also want to do that. Ah, now I see.
