Alaska volcano erupts twice, sends ash 12 miles up, but, mind you, volcano monitoring is still not something we should be wasting government money on.
The best thing the Republican Party could do, both for themselves and for the country, is to fire and perhaps hang the anti-science shit-heads who have been writing their bullet points, from Palin's "fruit flies" to McCain's planetarium projector, to Jindal's volcano monitoring. Somebody is writing this bullshit for these people, who really have no idea of the facts behind what they're reading in these presentations that have made all three of them appear to be complete idiots (2 of which we're sure aren't in reality...the 3rd? well...).
*Somebody* is writing this stuff, and that somebody needs to be fired and never work in politics or policy-making again. Ever. Give them a creative-writing job, 'cause they really show they love making shit up.
BTW, it's not George Will, who himself had demonstrated he has absolutely no compulsion to actually learn the facts, nevermind actually reading the documents he claims supports his opinions.
(and nevermind the blatant ignorance behind modern creationism, with the lies upon lies upon lies in His name that these people speak to the point of disguist)
Opinions may differ, but it would be nice if the decision process we the independent electorate had to make was based on the opinions of some bad consequences vs different bad consequences, both legitimately derived from the facts at hand, rather than some bad consequences derived from the facts at hand vs a total and often willful ignorance of the facts at hand which this particular party has been bringing to the discussion table.
