Even if it was released in 79, I can understand why they put it on the 80s on 8... It charted for several weeks, starting in late 1979 and ending in early 1980. Granted, it never did very well in the charts... but it was still in the top 100 in the 1980s.
IMO, I suspect most folks never noticed the song until MTV aired it.
