I was in high school and heard a talk by a catholic scholar who justified evolution as being perfectly acceptable according to the bible. Two quotes one in Genesis "The world was created in 7 days" the second I can't remember where from "A thousand years was like a day and a day was like a thousand years".
Not that I advocate religion or the catholic church in any way.
