you'll be upset for not recognizing it:

Wyle E. Coyote in the man-bat suit.

And didn't Rick Astley look bemused by his resurgence as a pop-culture phenomenon?

I have to hope, though, that this huge and obvious mass-media appearance means that the meme is dead.

BY Rick Astley no less. i think that means it's officially over when Astley is asked to Rickroll his own Rickrolling.

still, that was kind of funny even though the stupid NBC announcers were like, "and now we have a musical surprise...watch!" and had announced Rick Astley earlier in the show.

um... it's the point of a Rickroll to NOT clue people in they're about to be Rickrolled. WTF?!

this was a sad sad year for the Macy's parade i thought. lots of flubs and errors and only two performers performed live. :(

only two performers performed live

Does Kermit the Frog count as one of the two?

i don't know - it seemed like exactly what it was every year. i can't recall what year it was when i finally realized everybody lip synced.

the difference now, i suppose, is back then, like doing the muppet show, they would at least re-record the material rather than lip sync to the original recording (when we know their voice doesn't sound anything like that anymore...).

then again, there was fears of Macy's totally disappearing in the last recession, so I suppose we should be, erm, thankful.

i think that was my problem. it was over-obvious lip-syncing to the over-obvious studio recordings. come on!!! even Kristin Chenowith!?! i was so disappointed.

Idina Menzel and James Taylor (okay and Kermit the Frog) were the only performers who looked like they were performing live. or at least lip-syncing convincingly to a re-recorded live performance.
