It looks like Wood Lillies, but there may be some detail I'm missing.

They were already in that spot when we bought the house. They usually bloom every year (between 2 and 10 blossoms, each only lasts a day), but last year there was nothing due to the drought.

Daylilies. They come in lots of colors and there are even some that will bloom all season (named "Stella D'oro) They are extremely hardy, will grow in full sun and are moderate feeders (need a little compost or fertilizer in spring and Fall. They should be dug up and divided every 3 or 4 years for maximum blooms. The garden centers will have all sorts of cultivars with shades from deep purple to reds, to orange and palest yellow, cream and greenish. The tetraploid varieties have doubled and tripled petals with ruffles. They also bloom in succession if you plant enough varieties, so you get continuous summer interest. They were bred from tiger lilies originally.
