Yes, this jerk collided with an 11 year old girl and then sued her.

Daily Record - Chester Township - Jury clears girl in suit over bike-skate crash:
A Morris County civil jury deliberated just 15 minutes Monday before clearing a Chester Township teenager of negligence when she and a wealthy physician neighbor collided in 2003 while she was inline skating and he was bicycling.

Fertility specialist and township resident Dr. Alexander Dlugi, now 54, sued Lauren Ellis for pain, suffering and loss of income after they collided on Sugar Maple Row in Chester Township on Oct. 19, 2003, while out exercising. Ellis was 11 years old at the time. Today she is a 15-year-old freshman at West Morris-Mendham High School.
why did this attract my attention?

It's the same town and high school where  [livejournal.com profile] faireraven  is from!

i cant say much. when i was 20, driving my car i had a 12 year old on a bike run into my car. they did 1K worth of damage and the highway patrol (cause it was county) said it was entirely the kids fault (cause i had right of way, he was originally stopped on the side of the road).
That said, while my car was fixed per his parents homeowner's insurance, i'm still freaked out driving anywhere near bicyclists so sometimes i wonder if i should get my head checked out. however though, i'll admit i'm not a litigation-happy kind of person.

What a jerk. I particularly like how he tried to show how careful he was trying to pass her. Excuse me, Mr. Important Dr. -- If you're ringing a bell and yelling, of course a child is going to turn and look to see what is coming and that will cause them to veer. Hopefully, the press will badger him so much for a quote he'll be shamed and the community will shun his services.

Hey...when my son was about 6, and I was ...younger... I was roller-blading and he was on his bike. He went right into me and I fell, breaking my ankle. Can I sue him?

tee hee.

well, you can sue anybody you want. whether or not you'd win is a different matter entirely.

although i would suggest that if a lawyer recommended you sue, get a different lawyer. :)
