I have never understood how the cleaning ladies in every office building I work in can have no clue whatsoever about the placement of a trash can, and that if you place it on the far side of the desk around the corner, it is utterly impossible to see it, much less use it to actually place trash in. I put it on the near corner every morning, having moved it from the out-of-site far corner, every damn morning.

*sigh*

This is the third office building I've been in, all with exactly the same damn thing happening every time.

I tire of this. Haven't we had some 100+ years of research into workplace efficiency?

it's everywhere. not just you. i nearly killed myself tripping over my trashcan one morning because they put it RIGHT IN THE DOORWAY. i have also had it ON MY WORK TABLE.

i think it's some sense of power and pleasure to see if we can find it or something.

try this: put a piece of tape in an X on the floor and mark it "TRASH CAN." if they put the can in another place, put your trash on the X. eventually, they ought to figure it out. and if it works, let me know!

to borrow from [livejournal.com profile] keltique"it's a trashcan! not brain surgery!" :)

It's *any* cleaning person. I suspect they get so involved in what they're doing next and just getting it all over with that they don't pay attention *at all* to where whatever they have came from.

Y'know, I can understand things like a custodian leaving the trashcans near the doorway, having emptied them into a container in the hall... but tucking them back under or behind things is just odd.

Then again, I think I've *never* had things left where I put them in the kitchen when the cleaners left... cannisters *and* drainboard included at least once every other month. One reason that while we have them come in every two weeks they *only* do our 1st floor. Don't want to *think* about the re-arranging that would happen to the second floor...

Have you asked them why they place it there?
