given the Republican track record for the "War on Drugs" and the "War on Terror", I really would rather someone declare that "we're going to solve the problem of poverty" rather than declaring a "War on Poverty".  At a certain point, you just need to recognize the fucking rhetoric doesn't work anymore...

Maybe they should declare a war on freedom, or a war on jobs, couldn't turn out much worse than they've done so far.

But it's going to be underfunded, full of corruption, permit lots of press releases but have no actual effect on the situation except possibly to make things worse... in other words, be just like every other Republican war!
