Um, what the hell's with the color in the vivian pic? The cat-perch is MINT GREEN, not mauve, and the carpet is pink, not coral...

There are settings one can do for "indoor" "outdoor" "florescent", each of which will make accomidations for the amount of general "red" (which the lens is very sensitive to appearantly). Have the wrong setting and you have to wait a little longer for the camera to find the right histogram mix.

Cats don't wait.
