Yay! I seem to have a computer again...
Jun. 23rd, 2003 06:42 pmMy box was having power-supply problems with a SCSI cd-burner (note: I bought all this stuff back in '98), and when I bought a new IDE/ATA one, it wouldn't detect that, nor would it detect any other new stuff, nor would it even power-up the regular cdrom I had already, provided both hard drives (small suckers, 9 and 4, though that was "big" at the time) were powered up.
Was driving me nuts. I did the "Enclosure" thing already to salvage the cdburner and an 80 gig hard drive, turning them both into external USB devices that work (*mostly*) just fine on my work box, and the cd burner's been moderately successful on my wife's win98se box @ home.
For some reason, today, in just re-attaching everything from scratch and starting all over, I managed to get a configuration of the CDrom, the 2 original hard drives, and the zip drive, all working just fine together, and as I type this, I've got RedHat 9 installing on that box and it'll be ready to take home by the time the computer room actually gets cleaned...
