PAYPAL USABILITY FUCKING SUCKS
Mar. 13th, 2006 12:10 pmi go through this every fucking month.
i enter my password, i get thrown over to the "forgot your password" page, no matter where or how i try to log in to paypal from.
i say fine, fuck it, i'll go through the fucking proceedure to change my fucking password for the 10th fucking time in the last 10 fucking months cause paypal fucking does this to me every fucking time i need it.
and when i actually set my "new" password to what i knew it was to be all the time, PAYPAL FUCKING TELLMS ME ITS MY ACTIVE PASSWORD
meaning, they KINOW its my password and yet their fucking system keeps telling me it isn't until i try to actually reset it.
fuck
and THIS HAPPENS EVERY FUCKING MONTH

Date: 2006-03-13 06:48 pm (UTC)I went to set up an account with a different card, but it won't accept it until I validate it or somesuch. I tried doing that, but something went wrong with that, too.
They sure make it hard to do business with them. I think they're ripe for a competitor to come in if one just would.

Date: 2006-03-13 07:04 pm (UTC)most other sites out there have already gained enough traction for using credit cards directly, and micropayments will never happen (for reasons having nothing to do with the technology), so where's the room to do something.
in short, without eBay's success, where's the draw? what's the killer app?
someone would have to come in with the killer app AND the paypal alternative, and then they could market the alternative elsewhere since it'll have the numbers.
you know who should do it: Apple & iTunes. they already don't want to do the "subscription" thing being offered by other sites (having a successful business already). so the new thing would be to pay in advance for your tunes (and later, movies), purchasing from that account as you go. then that account could be used elsewhere.
pros: it'll work, it'll be extremely usable, families will love it because it can be a means by which their parents "pay" for their stuff without having to give them the credit card directly.
cons: apple doesn't want to be in that business, so they'd have to ally with a bank or an existing (unsuccessful) micropayments company to pull it off. eBay won't bite. Steve Jobs has bigger fish to fry than PayPal.

Date: 2006-03-13 11:49 pm (UTC)PayPal stinks... and then again, it's much easier to ignore all that Spam when I know it can't possibly apply :-)
