i can never leave work early...

for the second time in a month, and effectively in a row, i have tried to leave early due to weather or having to be home for something and found my momentum, energy, and patience totally sapped away into nothingness because i have had to sit in a backup on 28 northbound at frying pan rd for an accident taking out 2 lanes.

i'm home, and all the get up and go i had going into my car got up and went and now i simply don't want to do a damn thing, much less the 3 hours of work i'm still supposed to do today.

all because people can't drive for shit.

And that is why I am still sitting at work. Let everyone else leave early, have their fender-benders, and the road will be somewhat clear for me.

At least you have weather to excuse those fenderbenders. Californians can't drive even with perfectly reasonable climate...

the last one (nov 3rd) was in overcast skies, no rain, no wind, no sun, no reason to justify it other than they were stupid.

the snow wasn't enough to do it except that one of the two simply wasn't paying attention worth a damn.

I feel your pain. Last week, when I *had* to be in Baltimore to open the theater for the show (my SM still is out with the flu), I got stuck in a 2.5 hour commute on BW Pkwy. The problem wasn't even on the BW, it was on I-95 near Baltimore; but everyone decided to use BW as the alternate. Needless to say, I got there 1/2 hour late and ready to kill any cast member to looked at me cross-eyed.

I know which day you travelled now.... It wasn't *just* the Balt. beltway/I-95 problem. On *top* of that, there was an accident northbound on rt. 29 here in Ellicott City, same day, almost the same time... took almost as long to clean up apparently. (I was nice and called in to WTOP that there were still backups on 29 and 100 when he suggested it as an alternative... there were.. for about 20-30 minutes after I phoned in, and they were almost finished the clean-up then)

Of course, my problem with thinking about sneaking out the few minutes I can get away with is that *something* always seems to manage to come up to distract me and keep me there (it's not always bad stuff, it just "happens" though).

Amen! I never leave early unless they kick me out of here. As you might be able to tell by the time that this is posted...

Life is much easier when I leave at 6:30 and don't run into backed up traffic until I'm almost home.

What co-workers? They leave before I do!

I agree it would be more congenial to be relaxing at home, but it would also mean sacrificing my leave time to be caught in taffic with a bunch of panicy drivers. I'm not paying leave to be stuck in traffic if I can help it.
