Rape Victim Gets Higher Sentence Than Perp : Dispatches from the Culture Wars:

Here's an absolutely crazy case out of New York. In 2005, a 15 year old girl is jumped on the way to school and is cut in the scuffle. It's reported to the police and she told them that she didn't know who it was that jumped her. They charged her with filing a false police report. She goes to court to face a judge on that charge.

While waiting to see the judge, a juvenile counselor at the court raped her. She goes before the judge but is too terrified to say what happened. She gets sentenced to 12 months. The counselor who raped her went on to rape two other girls and one of them finally blows the whistle on him. He goes to trial and pleads guilty. And gets probation.
