Today's AT40
Aug. 12th, 2007 12:17 pmcrap, lost track of time.
At any rate, today's is July 1987 and I'm on my way to my senior year in high school. Most of that summer was spent relatively bored and sitting in front of the tv watching Robotech and Doctor Who. Music at this time was riding the 80s rock wave before the combination of hiphop/rap, mariah carey vocals, and nirvana alternative would ruin it all by 1991.
Heart's Who Will You Run To, John Cougar Mellencamp's Paper and Fire, now Miami Sound Machine's Rhythm Is Gonna Get You are all opening things up, so not too many one hit wonders so far. :)
...and still not many, as Prince (w/ Sheena Easton), and Bob Seager ("Shakedown") come up.
Now, the first big hair band to come in because of the big hair wave rather than evolving into one: Europe's power ballad "Carrie".
