just one of several "votes" taking place out there in congressland that people are mostly not noticing because everybody's attention (including the media) is all on the 9/11 commission.
hey, everybody, wake up! Congress is voting like shit out there...
I'm thinking its "throw the bums out" time again...
oh, and "President Bush yesterday scuttled a Republican agreement to extend three expiring middle-class tax cuts for two years, deciding instead to push for a more costly five-year extension when Congress returns in September." -- source
In other words, don't accept any chance that the tax cuts could stop before the end of Bush's potential second term and/or Kerry's potential first term. If he gets his way, Kerry will be paralized in his budget and/or Bush will continue to look damn good to high-income brackets leading to major support for the next republican candidate.
oh, and the "Flag Burning" issue is being discussed again, with a largely party-line vote in committee passing it to the senate floor.
the senate's expected rejection of the marriage amendment seems to be the only good vote that'll happened all week...
