i *heart* the 80s
Jun. 18th, 2004 01:14 pmSince 1987 I have:
Had 15 different jobs...
Owned 2 different cars...
Lived in 13 different residences...
Owned 1 of those residences...
Visited 2 different countries outside of the U.S....
Gained 45 pounds (not talking about the highest amount weighed, just where I am now)...
Had 10 different hairstyles...
Been married 1 time...
Been to 35 weddings...
Been to only 3 funerals...
plus (tinuvien style)
graduated high school
graduated college
and finally...
decided that the vast majority of mainstream music released during that 17 year time period sucked.

Date: 2004-06-18 01:20 pm (UTC)At the time, I was a huge Yes-head, with unshakeable worshipping of Rush, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton / Cream, the Doors (including "Other Voices" the album they made in 1972), Zep, pretty much the standard "classic-rock" fare. I also listened to 80s "new age" (and hated that term) to study to.
Basically, when the classic rock stations started to lose their variety in a major way, with the death of the "AOR" format in 1991, that pretty much was the final nail for me to just stop listening to radio. The 90s were spent amongst the celtic greats, and since 1999, i've been mostly back in the prog scene.

Date: 2004-06-18 04:45 pm (UTC)no, i said what i meant. Will Akerman, (the late) Michael Hedges, Nightnoise, Shadowfax, Patrick O'Hearn, Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Jean Michele-Jarre, and some obscure stuff, too.
like i said, good to study by.
new wave's good to party to. of course, I never held any parties, so i didn't bother to have any except the few things my dad had on vinyl at the time.
