Thriller-Free Zone 2010

Is starting in film-score land...
  • 2 from Close Encounters (John Williams)
  • 1 from Batman Begins (Zimmer-Howard)
  • the Mischief Managed medley from Harry Potter 3 (John Williams)
  • 3 from Pirates of the Caribbean 3 (Hans Zimmer)
  • opening titles from the original Planet of the Apes (Jerry Goldsmith)
  • 2 from The Black Hole (John Barry)
  • Alice's theme from the Tim Burton film (Danny Elfman)
and those two segue us into a Disney batch...
  • Grim Grinning Ghosts
  • The Bells of Notre Dame
at this point, we finally got our first kids...(and they weren't even all that dressed up...)
  • Poor Unfortunate Souls (Little Mermaid)
  • This is Halloween & What's This (Nightmare Before Christmas)
  • Hephalumps and Woozles! (Winnie The Pooh)
now the classical begins...
  • Berlioz's Symphonie Fantasique mvt 5 (includes Dies Irae) (Bernstein, NYPO)
  • Mars and Saturn from Holst's Planets (Bernstein, NYPO)
  • Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain (Bernstein, NYPO)
  • Stravinsky's Symphony of Winds (Rattle, BPO)
  • Tocatta & Fugue and Sorcerer's Apprentice from Fantasia (1982 version - sounds clearer for my needs here)
  • 2 from Saint-Saens - Danse Bachanal and Danse Macabre (Eugene Ormandy)
  • O Fortuna (well, why not?) - Orff (Previn, LSO)
  • Prokofiev - Alexander Nevsky Cantata (Previn)
and to close...
  • Mahler Symphony 7 (Michael Tilson Thomas, SFO)
  • works by Takemitsu
2010-10-31 Halloween
and someday there's gonna be a rant on how many kids were *driven* from house to house instead of walking...

1. Y'all rock for playing Night on Bald Mountain.

2. Driven? Seriously? Hmm, maybe that's why I didn't see very many of them out and about...your neighborhood is rather similar to mine in layout except the houses/yards in your neck of the woods are bigger.

in our county, kids can't even walk from their front door to the bus stops nowadays. there are always cars and SUVs stacked up at the bus stop with a kid apiece in them until the bus comes.

and we're not talking snowy or rainy or even cold days. i mean all days.

seriously.

love the Harry Potter theme track songs by "John Williams" great for Halloween, and of course Night on Bald Mountain isn't far behind
