taking the plunge...

...into using iTunes to manage my playlist instead of separate file system based .m3u files (they're there too, of course).

That iTunes 8 can have folders with subfolders (with subfolders ...) means i can manage the hierarchy that's in my head directly rather than by f'in' around with genre settings and smart playlists.  Don't know if iTunes 7 could do it, but at some point in the past it wouldn't so i'd given up.

This means i'm actually bothering to rate my tunes, starting with the 3100 track celtic collection...(yes, 9 *days* before a repeat, if I felt like it...)

I was using Quintessential Player, which used a .m3u system to deal with my files for a while before making the switch. So far, I haven't found anything I want iTunes to do that it hasn't been able to do.
