I wonder...

...if the reason there's no more baseball and softball after this year is 'cause the Brits would have no idea what to do with the ballparks after the games were over...

it's not like they're easily converted into cricket fields (or that they even need more of those), you know...

Funny, we were just talking about this!
This is what our research has lead us to believe.
The IOC has a limit to the number of awards written into their charter and periodically reviews the sports and does a little rotation. Apparently this relates also to sports that bring viewers as there have been alot of ratings issues in the past. Who knew? I watch them ritually! So now there is some conflict based partially on the American nature of the two sports, baseball and softball. Here is one article on it all. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/8504326/site/21683474/

We have been discussing the possibility of Skateboarding in 2012, which is a complicated and weird idea. Being a former sponsored amateur skater, MANY years ago, who still follows the skate scene, I can say I am conflicted by it. We will see. We have been learning about the process to get a sport in and its really interesting.

And if ya can't tell, we are serious Olympic nuts as well. The TV has hardly been off today, which is over the top for us, but we are loving it. Ellawyn has been doing sports all day, making up her own events. When we lived in Crownsville in the commercial building over Sputnik Cafe, I had a 6 Pane window and made little posters of the medal counts to put up in the windows. What a dork I am! :-D
