CelticDistrict.com LIVES! (in beta, at any rate...)

Finally some time to think, to settle, to look at the house and go "It'll keep a week, 'cause I'll be home next weekend, too" and yippee! I've managed to start my rebuilding of CelticDistrict.com.

It may seem (and probably will stay) a shadow of its former glory, merely 'cause now I'm aware of the lack of time in keeping track of so many things.  I've deferred the calendar to [livejournal.com profile] dragansmaragach 's yahoo group (though I may have a "recommended" list of my own), and haven't yet restored most of the dance, history, or "other" listings yet.

Still, with the upgrade in MySQL, it made it a lot easier to import the Musicians listing into the new system, which was a major time-saver.  And as such, it's progress more than has been done on any site of mine in over two years.  As the data starts to stabilize, I can look to a little restructuring and see what kinds of fancy Ajax features might be ideal for the content.  I also know I want to rewrite the Updates/RSS feed section as well.

Last of all, I'm looking at that right sidebar section to perhaps introduce some google-ads.  No reason I can't make a buck or two on this, though I'll still keep it subtle in terms of colors and size.

Comments are welcome.  It uses the same PHP based CMS I wrote for the Fantasy Ball (and is also in use in my company's web site) - dynamically stored and then a static copy is generated for upload, with all ".php?page=" links translated as appropriate.

Awesome! I've been going to CelticDistrict.com periodically, looking for the resource links, and was bummed that it wasn't really displaying anything. So... Thanks! :D

any particular resource type you're looking for that's not there yet? I have the originals and could easily make a page for it.

I think the society page is next to go online.

I was particularly interesting in a sessions list, like the jam at Royal Mile. I have a list somewhere, but it's probably been destroyed by whatever purse or wallet is hiding it. (Must. De. Clutter. Office. Preferably before I gnaw my arm off in frustration.)
