i've known of them, at least through the two movie hits (this one and Weird Science) for years, but only just bought a best-of compilation on the cheap at a used cd shop last night.
so i finally got to hear it on MY terms, not on "oh, it happens to be on the radio or on vh1-classic".
I wasn't all that into the alternative-dance scene back in the 80s. I liked what i heard, but rarely enough to buy (on my limited budget that was mostly going to comic books), then by the time I had more income, I had switched to classic rock instead of persuing the goth/alt scene more deeply.
so it is a sense of rediscovery of the aspects of the 80s I liked but didn't really delve into.
maybe its just that my 20th reunion is coming up in '08.
well, i'm always limited by what i have in stock at the time (see above - i only just bought this yesterday), plus having to make time for multiple genres (there's classical and film music on that list as well as the odd-80s-party stuff).
