if you haven't gotten...

...the Cylon-Face Boxed Set of the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica (and you're interested), and live in VA, go to Borders and soon.

The one in Fairfax (at the 29/50/236 intersection) has 4 or 5 left at 20% off a base price of $59.99, so that's $48.

That's less than half of the asking price at FYE (still $119.99).

Between that and my "personal shopping day", I got it down to under $45 after tax.

You might be interested in this: Barnes and Nobel has a sale on boxed DVD sets: Buy one, get one free. Also, nearly all of their DVD sets are normally 10% off, and if you have a membership, another 10% off (actually a total of 19% off -- silly combo discount math). This sale is good until January 30 (not 31st!), and also applies to online sales. Of course, if you buy ten at one time, the lowest five will be free, so make separate purchases in similarly priced blocks of items, eh? I'm not sure how online purchase/shipping charges would work with this.

i've already gotten a couple (pairs) that way. i used it to get a doctor who + looney tunes vol 4 on the cheap. earlier i used it to get HBO's "Elizabeth I" along with electric company vol 2.

i get the 10% off members club discount on top of those two. There's a BN a block away from my office, another in reston is more or less on one of the ways home.

The B&Ns, however, have been out of the old galacticas for quite some time.
