On yesterday's sad events in Seattle...

Not saying anything more about yesterday's sad events other than there was also clear evidence that the blanket declaration, "the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" (12/21/2012), was proven false.
NRA and gun supporters: you are welcome to use facts (as many do including some of my friends on FB), but when you start making blanket rhetorical statements like that above quote, others now have a clear reason not to believe you.

the temptation to put this on FB was quite strong, but I resisted.  that said, someone else say anything and I'll surely bring it up.

In other words, just because Wayne LaPierre says something, nobody is under any obligation to believe him.

I share your thoughts here, but I'm not sharing them on FB either. Too. Much. Trouble.

Sadly, I thought that one of the main reasons that the shooter didn't kill more people and do more harm than he did is because he *only* had a shot gun and a pistol and not a crazy arsenal of semi-automatic weapons. I'm no gun expert but the few guns I have fired at reenactments (all early 20c bolt action and a musket), having to rack your gun after each shot and only getting a few shots before you have to reload really, really slows you down.

Which is why there has been noise about limiting how many bullets a gun can fire at a time, because most of the people stopped have been stopped while they are reloading.

True, but the problem is that there are so many guns that already have larger capacity, it's kind of a moot limit.
