Clinton says Cheney not a "reliable source":
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took aim on Wednesday at former Vice President Dick Cheney, telling lawmakers she did not view him as a "particularly reliable source" on issues of torture.

Watch the media run with this one. Strictly as a "Dems vs GOP" rhetoric war, of course.

Swiftly buried in the verbal catfighting/dogfighting will be the elephant in the living room (i.e., the fact that we as a nation TORTURE people and are apparently STILL doing so).

It will come as no surprise to you that I do not view the Secretary of State, former WH occupant/first lady as a particularly reliable source ... on anything. After all, she "couldn't find" subpoenaed billing documents for years, when it turned out they were "right there on the table" all along. Nor could she remember *any* information (much less details) about major land purchases, or where she got investment information on beef futures, etc. etc.

Oops, pardon me. Was that my snark showing?

Anyway. My opinion, for real, is that since the administration released the authoriaing memos (not deeming them sufficiently security sensitive) they should also release the other documents so the public can get the whole picture of what happened and when, what information was gathered, and whether it actually prevented any attacks.

Don't blame you at all...I'd be more comfortable if she wasn't in that office right now myself.

Agreed on the memo thing, especially now as the Bush CIA and others (people now out of office) are all defending their actions by saying "see, it worked, we stopped X from happening" when chronologically, such cause-and-effect is in some cases impossible to have happened as the torture apologists have described.

The reality of KSM is that they didn't turn him into a stooge: they turned him into a jammer, spouting out plot after plot, exactly what they *wanted* to hear, and causing more false alarms in ways that are now impacting REAL terrorist prosecutions like the instance where he claimed credit for something the Pakistani government had already caught and convicted someone for.
