woah, a post...
So what did I do at Dragon*Con 2014? hmm...
thanks to a car accident at 85&20, we just missed getting Cyd to the Mork's Suspenders photoshoot. Got in and out of registration in seconds. Then Lunch. Made it to the Colin Baker panel, watching Wiggles while Cyd did a Robin Williams Flash Mob. Mommy took Wiggles to a friend's hotel room to rest (no nap, but rest), while I made my first pass at the walk of fame, now up to 4/13 dwarves having signed my first Hobbit dvd. Along the way, I kept forgetting things and having to run back to the car, but hung out w/ friends for a bit then Metro Diner for dinner and finally hotel (but saw some more friends just before we left).
Late for the parade, but found cheaper and (otherwise) more convenient parking. struggled for quite a bit to get across the street (finally gave up and rode the marta elevators - they aren't deeper than Wheaton, but they are steeper). got mommy and wiggles up to friends' hotel room to see the rest of the parade while i managed to get George Perez to sign a 31 year old comic (that was in near-mint condition but is now ruined by having the artist actually sign it, right?). back up, then down for the Patrick Stewart/Gates McFadden (w/ Garrett Wang) panel. beat the lunch rush after that by cutting through the elevator platforms, where along the way we spotted garb-repair cosplayers (Lt. Darn) who helped glue wiggle's 'boo' eye back on. took photos in the hall for a bit while mommy changed wiggles. then to shopping and a garb change for wiggles to help cool down. into the mall and meet more friends in food court for dinner, then home. wiggles too burned out to make one more pass through the marquis so i'll just watch the photo albums...
casual arrival, in time for a quick pass through the WoF for the Richard Hatch photo, then upstairs for the Middle Earth Cast panel (Billy sang the RotK song), then a pizza lunch up in the loft, costume watching (saw more friends, go fig), out to the Oncers (Once Upon a Time) photoshoot (decided to skip out on the PotC panel, oh well, still had fun being photographically creative - in fact, having finished polishing the shots, I am now VERY happy, creatively, for having skipped the panel and finishing the shoot). then over to shopping again (geeze that starbucks is slower than hell sometimes) after a change to cooler garb and dropping off most of the 'props' we didn't need anymore. basically just ended the day in Americas Mart 1 looking at photo albums (and cosplayer-passerbys) and catching up on my news feeds (free wifi) while mommy went shopping. then to relatives for a quick catch-up and finally hotel to pack.
so, 3 panels, 1 photoshoot, about 3 hours just costume-watching in the marriott, 2 hours costume-watching in the Americas Mart 1, 1 hour in line at starbucks (spread over 2 days), and 7 autographs plus 2 pictures. less than some do, more than others. for having to watch a 3 year old in all that, not too bad. Everything on my "checklist" was achieved (except perhaps meeting Koenig, but he had a long line when he was in the Walk), and that is enough.
